This transcription has been compiled using both PR and BT sources. Both are badly damaged and unreadable in places, and there are significant gaps in each source. A large section of entries between 1630 to 1635 is missing from the PR, and the years 1642 to 1663 are missing in the BTs. Gaps are noted in the transcription at the appropriate point. Where possible, the PR has been used as the primary source; any significant differences between this and the BT are noted.

Because of the difficulty in reading the source material, it has not always been possible to know whether a name has a tilde or other symbol to represent missing letters. Abbreviated names may therefore appear in the transcription as, for example, Rob[er]ti if a symbol can be seen or looks likely, or Robti. if not.

'Afferitur' in various spellings indicates an entry where the father's name was affirmed by the mother.

One other folio in the register has a few illegible entries in a hand, and using ink, which matches this era.The surname Haworth is virtually all that can be read. Apart from this, between March 1645 and August 1657 all baptismal records amounting to about 850 from both Parish Register and Bishop transcripts have been lost with the following two years to 1659 also difficult with much illegible material on badly decayed folios.
