Lowton Primitive Methodist Chapel
Picture by kind permission of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Ward formerly of Winwick Lane, Lowton

The first Primitive Methodist Chapel in Winwick Lane, Lowton dates back to 1842. By 1880 a larger chapel was needed, and a new one was built on the corner of Winwick Lane and Newton Road - pictured above. This was consecrated in 1881 and remained in use until it was demolished in 1985. The original chapel building was used as a church hall until a new hall was built in Newton Road.

When this church closed, the worshippers transferred to the Newton Road building, which became known as Lane Head Methodist Church.
