The foundation stone of the building was laid on August 11th 1829 and was consecrated by Bishop Sumner of Chester in October 1831. The church was restored during the incumbency of the Rev. S. Wilkinson and a new vestry built during the incumbency of the Rev. William Bracecamp.

The graveyard is all that remains of the church today, the church itself having been demolished.
