This transcription is based mainly upon records for 'Tockholes Chapel' found in a section of the register books of the mother church, Blackburn St Mary. This is referred to in the transcription as the Main Register. There are no records for 1764 in this source.

Two additional sources have been used. There is Notebook containing Christenings from 30 Mar 1777 to 25 Dec 1812, which includes Births from 18 May 1800 to 25 Nov 1804 with gaps, and miscellaneous memoranda including Baptisms 1770 and 23 Jun 1771. This source is referred to in the transcription as the Draft Register. There is also a register of Christenings, from 6 Mar 1777 to 4 Dec 1791, which is referred to here as the Copy Register.
