"A copie of Tatham's church Register of all Christenings, Wedding and Burialls since the year of our Lord 1558.
Extracted and taken out of an old parchment book by the Reverend Mr. John Sharp Curate and John Walker Clark of the parish church of Tatham. It being according to the royall Law and the Canons of the church of England - - in the tenth year of the Reign of our Sovereign Lord George - King of England and in the year of our Redemption by Christ our Lord 1718."

This transcript of the old register presents the events in blocks for each year under a heading like "Christnings 1558". Entries in these blocks contain only day and month and not year.

The following note from the transcribers above is embedded in the transcript.
"This register of late has begun to be very disordered but I cannot help it"

It is clear they had some doubts about the correctness of the year in all places. Where strict adherence to the year defined by the heading has looked unusual, we have applied our own interpretation. However, the information regarding the heading of the blocks is preserved in the page references.

Entries in this book continue until 1785, following which a new register is started. No explanation is given regarding the entries following the completion in 1718 of the transcript by Messrs. Sharp and Walker. It is unclear whether the book was adopted as the parish register until such time it was filled or if these entries are a transcript by others.
