All Saints, Stand

The church at Stand began life as a chapelry in the ancient parish of Prestwich. The church was consecrated on the 8th September 1826 by the Bishop of Chester. It was built to divide the parish of St Mary, Prestwich, which by this time was growing to the point it could not be supported by the main church. By the beginning of 1848, it had been elevated to the status of a parish in its own right.
