St Anne, Copp, Great Eccleston in the County of -- Lancashire --

GREAT ECCLESTON is a township, in the parish of St Michael - the village is situated about 6 miles southwest of Garstang, a short distance from the south bank of the river Wyre. It used to produce vast quantiites of rushes, cut and prepared for the tallow chandlers. The Church (or Chapel) of St Ann is situated at Copp (otherwise Copp Chapel), about half a mile from the village. A Roman Catholic Chapel and a Weslyan Methodist Chapel are both situated in the village.
