    The oldest church in Salford. Built in 1635
    Originally built as a chapel-of-ease.
    Most of the current building dates from 1752
    Sir Humphrey Booth raised the money for the original church.
    His grandson, also Humphrey Booth, set up a trust to maintain the church and help the ‘poor of Salford’.

    Founded in 1842. Closed in 1967.

    Founded in 1825
    Designed by Sir Robert Smirke, the architect behind the British Museum
    The church became St Philip’s with St Stephen in 1962 when nearby St Stephen’s church closed and the congregations merged

    The site of St Stephen’s church is a small park between Trinity Way and St Stephens St.

    The original church building was in King Street.
    This was closed in 1868 when a new church was built to replace it, in Cross Lane.
    The Cross Lane church was closed and demolished in 1969.
