This winter famous or memorable by nearly 400,000 Frenchmen perishing through cold and the sword of the Russians or taken captive by the said Russians.
In the year 1814 a handsome parsonage was erected for the Minister of the Church of Bacup by the liberality of the congregation. The Revd William Porter being at that time incumbent.
