The following note of explanation is given in Mr Thorburn's copy register:

"The foregoing Registration of Baptisms (from Nov 22 1752 till March 22 1802) appears to have [been] kept - all in one hand writing - by the Revd. Mr Burgess.
The fact of his having left Hallfold Chapel about 1790 which he occasionally visited, and the election of Rev Mr Towers as minister in his stead, occasion a double Register for the years 1790/1/2/3/4. Mr Burgess keeping one and Mr Towers another. The following is Rev Mr Towers Register"

The following note of explanation is given at this point in Mr Thorburn's copy register:

"This is the conclusion of Rev Mr Towers Registration of Births and Baptisms. For the years 1794/95/96 look back a few pages to Revd Mr Burgess Register [presented here as the previous register, i.e. 1752 - 1802]. The following Registration of Baptisms [1797 - 1821] is that kept by the Rev Mr Robinson"
