Memorial Inscriptions at St Mary in the Baum
in the Township of Wardleworth, Rochdale

Sacred

to the memory of MARY ELLIOTT

eldest daughter of

the late Edward and Mary ELLIOTT of ROCHDALE

who died the 19th day of Jan. 1845 aged 73 years,

sincerely and deservedly regretted by those

who knew her.

This tablet is erected as an affectionate

token of gratitude and esteem by

her brother's orphan children

whom she took and nourished as her own

and evinced towards them a parental care

and kindness which terminated only with

her exemplary life.

She is interred in the family vault,

St. Clements Church,

Spotland.

Sacred to the memory

JOHN INCHBALD, eldest son of

the Rev'd. J.W. INCHBALD,

incumbent of this Church

who was taken away from the evil to come

'on the 12th Feb 1845';

the day on which he attained his 20th year.

His early virtues were the presage of

much future good and in all

the relative duties of life.

He was peculiarly exemplary which

endeared him to those who knew him.

This Tablet ie erected

at their own request by the firm

of Elliott Brothers, Merchants, Falinge, Nuwden,

whose care he was placed and who were

associated with him for several years,

in testimony of their affection and

his merit.

He is interred in the family vault

under the vestry at the north-east end

of this Church.

of the new building Anno Domin 1910

the record of the grateful affection

and regard of his congregation and

many friends.

who with a most active willing spirit

and good abilities duly and decently

discharged the Dutys of his Holy Function

to the satisfaction of a very extensive

and populous cure

for almost 40 years together.

He died without having his merit as

a Divine otherwise rewarded than

with the Curacy of this Chapel

on the 26 June 1761

in the 64th year of his age.

Truly contented and respected.
