Notes: [This monument originally had a sundial as its centre-piece, the top of which was stolen. The inscription was 'Ab hoc momento pendet aeternitas - James Simpson 1781' , according to a hand-written note in the top right-hand corner of the transcription made some years ago. A hand-written note on the top left of the page says:]
James Simpson does not appear on the burial register' . ['However, other evidence suggests that the name 'James Simpson' was the name of the maker of the sundial, rather than someone connected with burials at the chapel.]
[Inscriptions were recorded some years ago; these included the last line of the monument inscription which is now below the landscaping.]

[Surname for both Peter and Ellen Domvile is given as Dumville in the burials register. Vault inscription clearly states that Ellen died on July 24th 1771, but the burial register clearly states that she was buried on June 27th.
The vault inscription for Peter Domville clearly states his age as 74 years, but the burial register clearly states 73 yrs. The part of the inscription giving the years of age for Elizabeth is weathered and worn away and is no longer visible; the burial register gives her age as 77 years ]

[Some years ago the inscription was recorded. In addition to what was recorded at the time, which was typewritten, in hand writting below the typewritten entry is - Mary Simpson Buried 16th Feb 1870 aged 64 Pennington in Leigh. It cannot be confirmed if this is from what could be seen and missed out or that someone has passed this information on]
James Simpson does not appear on the burial register [hand written on the top left of page with records taken some years ago for the hexagonal monument. See grave F1 for explanation.]

[Right of monument - you can see this from Station Road, the monument is placed on a large slab, which has some visible inscription from this position and where the inscription is visible it appears to be a duplicate of the inscription on the monument]
[The inscription for Thomas Forster is found at the front of the monument when looked at from the church. On the right of the monument, seen from Station Road, are the inscriptions for John, Mary, Alice and Elizabeth Forster. At the back of the monument are the inscriptions for Martha, Mary and Charlotte Forster.]
[Burial register states Alice died at 24 yrs; inscription on monument states 21 years. Burial register states Mary Foster was buried 25 Jun 1895; inscription on monument gives her surname as Forster]
