Found at the end of Baptisms for 1800

An Act of Parliament was passed this year to ascertain the population of Great Britain. In conformity to which I have searched the Registers for a hundred years back; and have recorded the result on the next following leaf. The page after that contains the Overseers return of the present population as delivered in to the Magistrates. The Clergy send their return from the Registers to their Diocesans as I have done mine this 17th April 1801.
J. Adamson Incumbent.
