St Mary, Walton-on-the-Hill
1586/87 - 1982
The first church of St. Mary was built in 1326 but nothing remains of this building. The nave, the oldest part of the church was re-built in 1742 and the tower in 1831. The Chancel dates from 1810. The church was destroyed by German bombs 0n 3rd May 1941 but was restored and re-consecrated on 5th Sep 1953. At one time the parish had extended more than 46 square miles. |
