St Andrew’s Church stood on Renshaw Street, where it was built in 1815 by Sir John Gladstone. This building was sold in 1892 to Railway Company on the site of Central Station. The money obtain was used to erect the new church, designed by George Bradbury, on Aigburth Road which opened in the following year.
