in the Parish of Haydock

The Baptisms Register for the years 1866 to 1877 has the following anomolies.

One page in the record book has been incorrectly dated as 1859 and should be 1869. This is corrected in the transcibed entries.

Pages 38 and 39 do not exist in the copy of the registers used. The data for these pages has been provided by Rodney Middleton Vicar of Haydock parish.

Page 40 in the book is in error from the printers record 313-320 have been numbered 213-220. The transcripts show the numbers which should have appeared.

In all books the record entries are not strictly sequential by date, some late entries have been noted by the scribe comments appear if this is the case.

All entries have been transcribed how they were written, no attempt is made to correct spelling errors where the writing is clear. Where it is unclear I have used the most common spelling used. Most spelling variations occur in the place names eg. Juddfield Brow can appear as Judfield, Judgefield or Judgfield and Lyme st is sometime Lime st etc.

Some of the Baptisms are noted as S Albans, this refers to a Chapel on West End Street Blackbrook now called St. Mark's. These entries appeared first in 1879 and ceased in 1881, and later in 1888 and 1889. "

Although the final Baptism Register is labelled 1899-1904 on the film, the records end in January 1901. There is also a numbering glitch. Nine records from 163 to 171 appear in the record book as numbers 363 to 371. Again this is a printing error.
