These records are from the Register for 1813 to 1864. This registers was transcribed up to 1837 during the years 1966 to 1970 by Kathleen Leonard, and published: the first in duplicated form, the others in hardback. The transcription is copyright © the Hawkshead Parochial Church Council. The records are made available to the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks project by kind permission of J.M.Leonard and the Hawkshead Parochial Church Council.

Members of the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks project have also been through the Bishop's Transcripts for this period of the register in order to transcribe the Minister who performed the burials. This, and any further information found in the Bishop's Transcripts but not present in the transcribed registers, has been added to the data base. Some differences (e.g. in dates, names, abodes etc) were also found between the transcribed registers and the Bishop's Transcripts, and in these cases the different text from the Bishop's Transcripts is detailed in square brackets in the Notes. The Bishop's Transcripts also contained some Page and Entry numbers which are included. These may or may not be the same as those in the original registers and readers are advised to consult the registers to be sure of accuracy. The Source LDS number refers to the Bishop's Transcripts.

The Hawkshead Burial Records covering the later period of this register (12 Jan 1836 (Page 82 Entry No 655) to 29 Nov 1864) have been transcribed in full by the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks project from the Bishops Transcripts. At the start, the Bishops Transcripts include Page and Entry Nos which appear to be from the original Parish Register. These Page/Entry Nos continued until Entry No. 693 (on Page 87). Thereafter Page Nos were only recorded for Pages 133 to 135 accompanying Entry Nos. 1057 to 1075 inclusive. Some other Entry Nos were recorded without their Page Nos, and in these cases the Page Nos have been estimated based on the standard 8 Entries per page. The Entry Nos. which were present in the Bishop Transcripts closely match the Entry Nos expected from a count of all entries, and this suggests that very few (if any) Burial entries from the Parish Register were missed during transcription.
