These records are from the Register for 1813 to 1864. This register was transcribed up to 1837 during the years 1966 to 1970 by Kathleen Leonard, and published: the first in duplicated form, the others in hardback. The transcription is copyright © the Hawkshead Parochial Church Council. The records are made available to the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks project by kind permission of J.M.Leonard and the Hawkshead Parochial Church Council.

Members of the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks project have also been through the Bishop's Transcripts for this period of the register in order to transcribe the recorded relationship of those baptised (son, daughter) and the Minister who performed the baptisms. This, and any further information found in the Bishop's Transcripts but not present in the transcribed registers, has been added to the data base. Some differences (e.g. in dates, names, abodes etc) were also found between the transcribed registers and the Bishop's Transcripts, and in these cases the different text from the Bishop's Transcripts is detailed in square brackets in the Notes. The Bishop's Transcripts also contained some Page and Entry numbers which are included. These may or may not be the same as those in the original registers and readers are advised to consult the registers to be sure of accuracy. The Source LDS number refers to the Bishop's Transcripts.

The Hawkshead Baptism Records covering the later period of this register (2 Jan 1836 (Page 133 Entry No 1057) to 18 Dec 1864) have been transcribed in full by the Lancashire Online Parish Clerks project from the Bishops Transcripts. At the start, the Bishops Transcripts include Page and Entry Nos which appear to be from the original Parish Register. However, the last of these Page Nos recorded in the Bishop Transcripts accompanies Entry No. 1147 (on Page 144), and thereafter only a limited number of Entry Nos. are also recorded. Any Page Nos which accompany Entry Nos after No. 1147 are estimates of the Parish Register Page Nos. based on 8 Entries per page. There are no Entry Nos. (or accompanying Page Nos) after No. 1612 on 2 Jan 1848.

An examination of the IGI Baptism records for Hawkshead identified a number of records missing from the Bishops Transcripts post-1836. These have been included in square brackets. This examination of the IGI does not claim to be exhaustive and further records may also be missing from the Bishops Transcripts.
