Baptisms recorded in the Register for the years 1837 - 1884

These Brathay Baptism records are Bishops Transcripts from the Holy Trinity Church, Brathay from 1837 to 1884 with the following provisos:-

The first record is 17 Sep 1837 being Entry No. 3 of the Parish Register but without recording the Page No. (presumed to be Page 1). Entries are numbered continuously from No. 3 to 24, which is presumed to be the last Entry on Page 3 of the Register.

Entries numbered from 25 to 39 inclusive are missing, being from Pages 4 and 5 of the Parish Register, and covering the whole year 1841.

Thereafter, apart from minor possible mistakes which are explained in Notes attached to individual Entries, all Entry Nos are recorded - from Entry No 40 through to the end at 25 Dec 1884 (Entry No. 410). Entry Nos 88, 89, and 90 (for the period between 27 May 1849 and 1 Jan 1850) were missing. Also Entry Nos 129 to 134, for the whole of year 1855, were missing.

Page Nos. from the Parish Register are first recorded for Pages 8 to 10 for Entries 57 to 80, and then from Pages 17 to 19 for Entries 135 to 146. Thereafter Page Nos are recorded continuously to the end of the file from Entry No. 155 of Page 20 to Entry No. 410 on Page 52. All these Page transcriptions show that the transcriber was recording the Page Nos of the Parish Register with the normal 8 Entries per page. For this reason, Page Nos have been included with every Entry No. whether or not Page Nos were recorded in the Bishops Transcripts. Nevertheless, for anyone searching the original Register using information provided here, it must be born in mind that while Entry Nos were in the Bishops Transcripts, some of the page numbers (as detailed here) have been estimated.
