Memorial Inscriptions at Market Street Congregational Church
in the Parish of Farnworth with Kearsley
The burial ground for the Market Street Congregational Church was a narrow elongate strip running parallel to Market Street between Church Street and Nelson Street. It is still there but in a very dilapidated state. In 1992 Howard Lambert visited the graveyard and recorded substantive data from all the 31 gravestones visible at the time, and in 2015 gave a copy of his transcript to Lancashire Online Parish Clerks. On 1 September 2015 Peter Wood from Lancashire Online Parish Clerks visited the graveyard to photograph the stones. Many of those seen in 1992 were no longer visible, presumably buried under debris, soil and vegetation.
