Baptisms at Farnworth Congregational Church
in the Parish of Farnworth

Farnworth Congregational Church was located on Market Street in the centre of Farnworth. According to the Farnworth and Worsley Methodist Circuit website, a Congregational chapel was founded there in 1808, enlarged in 1837 and rebuilt as the Farnworth Congregational Church in 1850. In 1972 the church was replaced by the current Trinity Church which serves three denominations of Congregational-Methodist worshipers.

The registers of Market Street Congregational Church were transcribed in the late 1990s by Derek Yates, and members of the Bolton Genealogy Group (now disbanded). The registers have not been filmed, but were loaned to Bolton Genealogy Group by the Minister of the church so the contents could be made more widely available to family history researchers. Derek Yates has kindly and freely given access to his electronic database of transcriptions, which are reproduced here in LAN-OPC format. Paper copies of the transcripts are also available in Bolton Library.
