St John the Baptist, Burscough
St John the Baptist, Burscough

Burscough was originally part of the Parish of Ormskirk and life events were recorded in the Parish registers for Ormskirk.

In 1832 the Church of St John the Baptist was consecrated and in 1849 Burscough became a seperate Parish.

You can find our more about the Church History on their website

When you are searching for Burscough Baptisms, Marriages and Burials you should check both the Ormskirk and the Burscough registers as many of these events continued to be recorded in the Ormskirk registers even after the Burscough Church had opened. Some events you may even find have been recorded in both sets of Registers.
