Baptisms at New Jerusalem Church
in the District of Little Bolton, Bolton le Moors

On 5 October 1837, Samuel Walmsley of Crook Street, trustee of the New Jerusalem Church in Bury Street, Little Bolton, in the County of Lancaster, sent the Register of Births and Baptisms to the 'Commissioners for enquiring into the State, Custody and Authenticity of Non-parochial Registers'. The chapel was said to be founded in 1803 but the register dated only from 1828-1837 during which period it had been kept by the minister, Mr John Sagar at his house. At no time had a burial or marriage register existed. Samuel Walmesley and John Roscoe were named as a trustees.

Unlike many other nonconformist registers of the period the register is printed and is According to the form directed to be used by the 17th General Conference of The New Church held at Birmingham 1824'.

The baptism and birth records presented here have been extracted from an LDS film of the register now housed in the National Archives, London.
