Baptisms performed at the St Anne's Mission Church from 1873 to 1901, extracted from the LDS film with approval of the Revd. Dr Robert Buckley, Team Rector for the Atherton, Hindsford & Howe Bridge Team Ministry. In June 1884 Hindsford became an independent ecclesiastical parish, and from then till the new St Anne Church was completed in 1901, the Mission Church building was known simply as St Anne Hindsford. There are many private baptisms recorded in this register.

NOTES WHICH ARE TO BE FOUND IN THE PREFIX PAGES TO THE REGISTER OF BAPTISMS OF ST ANNE HINDSFORD, ATHERTON

(1) The first eighteen entries are to be found in the register at the Parish Church.

(2) When baptising No.18 [Elizabeth Pendlebury on 19 April 1874] a sister by name of Frances was brought for admission, having been previously privately baptised by a former curate.

(3) January 31st 1875. Admitted George Harold son of Thomas Henry and Elizabeth Walker, clerk of Lodge Lane, Hindsford, Atherton.

(4) When baptising No.87 [James Seddon on 16 August 1875], a brother by the name of John William was brought for admission, having been previously privately baptised by a former curate.

(5) When admitting No.131 [James Glazebrook 17 November 1876] a brother named John was also admitted.

James s. of Thomas & Sarah Ann Doyle of 4 Meanley Road Astley was on April 30 1902 admitted into the church having been baptised at the Congregational Chapel Tyldesley when an infant. born Feby 23 1883.

Robert Hollows (Castle Street. Tyldesley) (b. Feb. 13. 1871) was on March 16. 1903 admitted into the church having been baptised at Leigh Wesleyan Chapel.

Thomas Davey (b. Nov. 22. 1868) was on May 5. 1904 admitted into the church having been baptised in the Mottram Methodist Chapel.

Richard Hesketh (b. May 6. 1878) was on May 5. 1904 admitted into the church having been baptised in the Atherton Wesleyan Chapel.

Herbert Webb (b. Nov. 6.1878) was on Feb, 22. 1906 admitted into the church having been baptised in the Baptist Chapel Dangerous Corner, Leigh.

James Lythgoe (b. Nov 6. 1879) was on April 14th 1907 admitted into the church having been privately baptised in infancy.
