A Register of such poor women as have had and received gowns bought by the Interest of Money left to the poor of the Parish of Ashtonunderline by Miles Hilton of Audenshaw, Yeoman

A Register of all such poor  men as have had and recived [sic] Gray Coats the Gift of Mr James Walker of Manchester by his last Will and Testament

A Copy of that part of Mr James Walkers Will relating to the Poor of Ashtonunderline

And first I give £250 unto my Executors hereafter named and the survivors and survivor of them and also to James Pickford and Joseph Pickford both of Althill within the Parish of Ashtonunderline and County of Lancaster Gentlemen James Brown the Elder of Ashtonunderline aforesaid Mercer James Brown the younger son of the said James Brown the Elder and John Saxon of Audenshaw within the said Parish of Ashtonunderline Yeoman, their Executors and Administrators upon the Trusts and confidences hereafter mentioned (that is to say) upon Trust and confidence that my said Executors and Trustees the Survivors & survivor of them or the Executors or Administrators of the Survivor of them shall and will put the said sum of Two hundred and fifty pounds out at Interest in their own names upon such security or securitys as they in their Discression shall think proper and also shall and will lay out the Interest yearly in buying Grey Woollen Cloth and other suitable materials and making the same into twelve Coats or more to be yearly given unto twelve or more poor old men of the Parish of Ashtonunderline aforesaid who have no relief from the said Parish such as the Rector of the said Parish and the Churchwardens of the same Parish for the time being or the Major part of them shall nominate to have the same and I do direct that in the nomination of the said twelve or more poor old men and the distribution as aforesaid regard be had to such poor old men as most constantly frequent the Church and ye Sacrament of the Lords Supper and my Will and mind is that the said Coats shall for ever hereafter be distributed yearly as aforesaid upon the first Monday next after the Eleventh day of October and that the first distribution be made upon Monday next after such Eleventh day of October as shall be next after the Expiration of one whole year after my decease

NB. George Lloyd Esqr and Mr Thomas Clowes are the survyving Executors of Mr Walkers Will which bears date ye 17 day of November 1749
